Master Lu Storytelling | 1. As long as you study Buddhism diligently and attentively, you will have all the wisdom!

There was a young monk who was going to travel and study. His master knew that his faith was not firm enough, so he asked, “When will you leave?” The young monk said, “Next week. The journey is long, so I need to make a few more pairs of straw sandals.” The master said, “I will inform everyone to send you straw sandals tomorrow.” So people sent straw sandals every day. Because he was afraid of rain when he went out, some people sent him umbrellas, which filled up a meditation room. The young monk still did not leave, so his master came and said, “Calculate how many days these shoes can be worn, and how many umbrellas do you need?” In fact, it was to remind him that he should study diligently as soon as possible.

A week later, the master came again and said, “The umbrella and straw sandals are enough. You may encounter some streams on the way. Tomorrow I will ask everyone to donate a boat for you. You can take it with you!” Only then did the little monk understand the master’s good intentions. He immediately knelt down and said, “Master, I will leave now. I don’t want to take anything with me. I have nothing to worry about!”

When doing something, the important thing is not whether you have all the material possessions, but your determination. Have a goal, bring your heart, the goal is far away, the road is under your feet, every step you take is a little gain; if you are attentive, all conditions will be met. If you study Buddhism diligently and attentively, all wisdom will be met!
